The Ceremony

We are fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies of up to 200 guests.

The Drawing Room at Bessingham Manor.

The Drawing Room

This vast south-facing room has two sets of bay windows (one with French doors opening towards the lower lawn) and windows on two more aspects making it an exceptionally light and bright room all day long.

Chandeliers, beautiful cornicing and a marble fireplace make this an impressive room for your wedding day and it is fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies of up to 120 people. After the ceremony your guests can enjoy reception drinks, canapés and photographs in the entrance hall, the study and the gardens, while your caterers transform the drawing room for your wedding breakfast.

Outside Bessingham Manor.

The Gardens

If you have more than 120 guests, or simply prefer the great outdoors, you can erect a marquee or tipi for your big day. The gardens are fully licensed to hold civil ceremonies of up to 200 people and the study can be used for the signing of the register. Reception drinks can then be enjoyed either in the manor or the gardens, weather dependent.

Alternatively you can marry in your chosen church and return to Bessingham Manor with your guests for the wedding reception. In this case we recommend you book your church ceremony as early as possible to allow for the service, photographs at the church and travel time back to Bessingham Manor. Your Event Manager will ensure all of your suppliers are looked after before welcoming you back to the venue.

Cutting the cake.

The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

Because you can use whoever you like for catering, the world really is your oyster! You could have a traditional three course meal, a hog roast, a barbecue, afternoon tea the list is endless.

And when it comes to speeches you can have them before, during or after your meal. We recommend a toastmaster for the day, or alternatively you can rope in the Best Man to make general announcements, prompted by the Venue Manager.

Evening reception.

The Evening Reception

Like the wedding breakfast, you have lots of options for evening food and entertainment. Street food vans, traditional finger buffet, Prosecco van, Gin bar, real ales, popcorn and candy floss machines to name but a few.

You could hire your favourite band or DJ, or even book a cèilidh to really get the party going.

All good things must come to an end and as Bessingham Manor is quite tucked away, you will need to ensure your guests all have transport pre-booked for the homeward journey. Guests are requested to vacate the manor at midnight, but those staying overnight are welcome to stay up for a nightcap and to reminisce the lovely day you will have had.

Accommodation

You have two nights accommodation included in the hire charge, the night before, and the night of your wedding.

There will not be housekeeping on the morning of your wedding so we suggest guests remain in the same bedrooms on both nights.

The Bridal Suite (Room 1) is a lovely spacious area for the Bride to get ready and have photos with the bridesmaids, and the main staircase is perfect to capture the bridal party on their way to the ceremony.

Your caterer may be able to provide you with a sumptuous breakfast on both mornings as well as a meal the night before, or you can opt to self-cater at these times.
